Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Mona Neubaur: "A model for many other projects"
Troisdorf, December 2023: A high-calibre jury of experts chaired by the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection has now awarded the P+B Group's NEULAND NEUSS project development the title of "KlimaQuartier.NRW". With this award, the state certifies that new construction or modernisation projects are particularly climate-friendly and energy-efficient.
The P+B Group is planning the mixed urban quarter NEULAND NEUSS on the conversion site of the former Rheinische Schrauben- und Mutterfabrik Bauer & Schaurte in the centre of the Lower Rhine city (https://www.pplusb.com/en/neuland-neuss/) .
The requirements for being recognised as a "KlimaQuartier.NRW" are high. Among other things, they must demonstrate particularly low CO2 emissions in building operation. The expert jury also assesses whether a climate-friendly urban design and a corresponding mobility concept are planned (further information at: https://www.energy4climate.nrw/waerme-gebaeude/initiativen-fuer-waerme-und-gebaeude-in-nrw/klimaquartiernrw).
"We are delighted to receive this award, would like to thank everyone involved in the project and are now working with great commitment on its realisation," explained Gerd Hebebrand, Managing Partner of the P+B Group.
In addition to the P+B Group's neighbourhood development in Neuss, four other new construction and modernisation projects in NRW received awards in the current round of the competition. Economics and Climate Protection Minister Mona Neubaur: "With the 'KlimaQuartier.NRW' award, we are honouring future-oriented new construction and modernisation projects that promote climate-friendly building and living in North Rhine-Westphalia. The projects show how climate protection can be implemented in concrete terms on site.
